   <description>6:00pm at Holiday Inn in Pigeon Forge, TN.

President Ben King welcomed everyone.
Murrell King gave the invocation.
The pledge was recited in unison.
A good meal was had by all.
The speaker was introduced by Dave Poehler. The 
speaker was Kathleen Steel who gave a great 
presentation on cancer. She was well versed on 
the topic, and has traveled to other countries to 
speak. She gave out handouts. She works for the 
American Cancer Society. They have a website 
available to the public. 

The minutes of the previous meeting and 
treasurer&#39;s report were read by Ben King and were 
approved as read. There were 13 members in 
attendance. 

Dave Poehler gave out a survey of possible topics 
for NARFE meetings. Dave asked for the survey to 
be turned in by the May 6th meeting. President 
King appointed a committee to select the topics. 
The committee consists of Dave Poehler, Brenda 
Phillips, and Winnie Atterback. Mr. Poehler made 
a motion which was seconded by Don Atterback to 
take up a donation for each speaker&#39;s 
organization. If at least ten dollars is not 
received, the money is to be taken from the Gold 
Box to make up the difference. The proposal was 
adopted. 

Several items of new business tabled until the 
May meeting such as a place to meet in June and 
August as well proposal number two of Dave&#39;s 
second handout. 

Motion to adjourn at 7:25pm.

Welcome new members.

Glen Cardwell talked about Premium Conversion. 
Murrell King has been in contact with NPS people. 

Service Office--Nothing to interject. 

New member thought sending letters to senators 
and congressmen while Mike thought sending email 
would be better. 

Ben King appointed a Nominating Committee 
consisting of Mike West (Chairman), Woodrow 
Reagan, and Gene Carpenter. 

IRS will get back to someone about the method of 
reporting to them for the chapter.

Mentioned delegates to Convention in April 2008. 
Applications were sent to the Arlene Cook (Vice 
President). Cook gave materials to President King.

Pledge led by President Ben King

A good meal was anjoyed by all.

Larry Cunningham spoke for a few minutes. He 
spoke mostly about Premium Conversion. August is 
the time to lobby and contact Congressmen. Five 
of nine congress persons for premium converson. 
Five out of nine GPO.

President Ben talked about IRS on filing a 
report. 

Minutes and Treasury report was not available. 

Only committee members present were Murrell King 
and Ray Sellers. Ray had nothing to report. 
Murrell had talked to some NPS employees about 
NARFE.

New member, Robert Smith, retired from Veteran 
Administration. Soon to be member, Woody Reagan, 
worked for office of Federal Housing. One other 
new member present whose name was not caught.

No meeting in September.

Motion made and second to adjourn at 6:50 pm.
